AI & Sidekick

ChatGPT integration for customer conversations.

Shopify merchants can now connect ChatGPT to handle incoming customer conversations. The integration works with Shopify Inbox and lets AI answer common questions - order status, returns, product details - before routing complex cases to a human. For merchants managing high support volume, this reduces response time without adding headcount.

Sidekick voice interactions.

Sidekick now accepts voice input. Merchants can speak commands and questions rather than typing - useful when you’re reviewing inventory on a tablet, moving around a warehouse, or just prefer talking to typing. Voice support covers the same range of tasks as text: pulling reports, creating discounts, getting store insights.

Marketing & Email

Filter products by collection in email campaigns.

When building product sections in Shopify Email, you can now filter by collection rather than searching your full catalog. For stores with large inventories, this makes it much faster to build the right promotional email without scrolling through thousands of products.

Dynamic email sections.

Email sections can now display live product data - prices, availability, and inventory pulled at send time rather than when the email was built. This matters for merchants with frequently changing prices or limited stock, where a days-old snapshot might show a sold-out or repriced product.

Display multiple collections in email.

A single email can now showcase multiple collections in separate sections. Previously this required manually adding each collection’s products. Now you select the collections and the email builds the product grid automatically.

Checkout & Payments

Apple Pay in Shop Pay checkouts.

Customers checking out via Shop Pay can now select Apple Pay as their payment method. This gives shoppers who prefer Apple Pay the ability to use it without leaving the Shop Pay flow - a smaller piece of friction removed at the highest-stakes moment in the purchase journey.

Unit pricing available globally.

Unit pricing (price per ounce, per gram, per meter, etc.) is now available to merchants in all regions. Previously it was limited to markets where it’s legally required. This is useful for any merchant selling products where unit price helps customers compare options.

Developer Platform

New Shopify developer hub.

Shopify launched a redesigned developer hub with consolidated documentation, better navigation, and improved search. The previous documentation was spread across multiple properties. The new hub brings it together.

New metafield type: article_reference (API 2025-10).

The upcoming API version 2025-10 adds a new metafield type: article_reference. This lets merchants link metafields directly to blog articles - useful for building content-driven product pages, connecting products to how-to guides, or linking to editorial content from collection pages.

POS & Retail

HID and USB scanner support for iOS.

Shopify POS on iOS now supports HID and USB barcode scanners. Previously iOS POS relied on Bluetooth scanners or the camera. Adding wired and HID scanner support expands hardware compatibility for retailers who already have wired scanner setups.
