Key takeaways
- Both products now build pages from a prompt, but the output is different in kind: Fudge writes native Liquid, CSS, and JavaScript into a draft of your own theme, while Replo AI builds pages inside Replo’s component system, served through Replo.
- Replo AI accepts more input types - a URL, a screenshot, a Figma frame, or an ad creative can each become a page - and pairs the AI with a visual canvas, built-in A/B testing, and analytics.
- Fudge starts from your store, not from a template: it reads your live theme, products, and apps before generating anything, so pages match your brand without a setup step.
- The uninstall test separates them. Fudge pages stay fully editable theme code after you cancel. Replo’s own docs say pages remain but can no longer receive published changes.1
- Over 12 months, Fudge’s entry paid plan is $948; Replo runs $1,188 to $7,188 depending on plan and billing, as of September 2026.2
Searches for Fudge AI vs Replo AI used to be a category error: one was an AI agent, the other a visual page builder with an AI assist.
That changed. Replo has rebuilt its product around chat, and its marketing now leads with AI page generation rather than the design canvas.3
So the honest question in 2026 is no longer “AI or drag-and-drop?” It is: when each product says AI, what does the AI actually read, what does it write, and who owns the result?
If you want the short answer, our Fudge AI vs Replo head-to-head covers the whole product in five minutes. This post goes deeper on one axis only: the AI workflow, from prompt to published page.
Why you can trust us
We have been in the Shopify space for over four years, across hundreds of stores and dozens of page builder migrations. We build Fudge, an AI storefront editor with a 4.9 rating on the Shopify App Store.
Fudge is our product - judge this comparison with that in mind. Every Replo claim below comes from Replo’s live site, App Store listing, or support docs, checked September 2026.
What does Replo AI actually do?
Replo describes itself as a way to build, design, and run your store through chat.3 The AI sits at the front of the product, and the inputs it accepts are the standout feature.
You can generate a page from almost anything:
- A prompt - describe the page and Replo AI drafts it.
- A URL - point it at any page, including a competitor’s, and it rebuilds the layout.
- A screenshot or image - paste a section screenshot and it generates a matching section.
- A Figma frame - export frames as images into the chat, or go through a Figma-to-code plugin for closer matches.
- An ad creative - drop in the ad and get a page built to match it.
After generation, you edit two ways. A Select mode gives direct on-page editing of buttons, colors, and text, and the chat handles bigger structural changes.
Around the AI, Replo ships real supporting tooling: a Brand Studio that imports your fonts, colors, and components so generated pages stay on brand, built-in A/B testing, an Insights analytics feature that builds reports on conversion and order value, and a library of 1,000+ templates.2
What the AI writes is the key detail. Replo pages are built from Replo’s component system and served through Replo’s infrastructure, which the company says pre-renders pages and delivers them from 300+ cities. The output is not code in your Shopify theme.
Replo AI is a genuinely capable page generator with the widest input range in the category, and everything it produces lives inside Replo’s system rather than your theme.
What does Fudge’s AI actually do?
Fudge takes the opposite starting point. Before it generates anything, it reads your store: the actual theme code, your products, and your installed apps.
That context changes what a prompt can do. “Build a landing page for our spring bundle” produces a page that already uses your theme’s typography, spacing, and components, because the AI worked from your real codebase rather than a template.
The output is native theme code. Fudge writes Liquid, CSS, and JavaScript into a draft theme in your own store. You preview the draft, request changes by prompt or with the inline editor, and nothing goes live until you publish it.
For design direction, Fudge draws on Lookbooks - curated design inspiration from leading ecommerce brands, used as inspiration rather than copying. You pick a direction; the AI adapts it to your brand.
The scope also runs past landing pages. Fudge edits existing pages, builds quizzes, bundle pages, and campaign pages, and works anywhere in the theme - the same model that powers our Shopify page builder.
What Fudge does not have matters just as much: there is no pixel-by-pixel canvas, no built-in A/B testing, and no analytics dashboard. If you want to drag every element by hand, a visual builder gives you more direct control.
Fudge’s AI behaves like a developer working in your theme: it reads the code you already have and writes code you keep.

Two rows deserve emphasis.
Input range goes to Replo. URL replication, screenshots, and Figma frames are real, useful workflows Fudge does not offer, and for teams that design in Figma they matter weekly.
Context and output go to Fudge. Only one of these AIs has read your theme before generating, and only one leaves the result in code you own.
Who owns what the AI writes?
This is the structural difference, and no feature release on either side has changed it.
Fudge’s output is yours. Every page is standard theme code, editable in the Shopify theme editor, by any developer, or by Fudge itself. Uninstall the app and nothing changes: the pages are simply part of your theme.
Replo’s output stays in Replo. Pages depend on the app to be managed and updated. Replo’s support docs are straightforward about the uninstall case: existing pages and sections remain available, but changes can no longer be published to them, even from the Replo editor.1
Neither model is dishonest, but they price switching very differently. Leaving Fudge costs nothing. Leaving Replo means rebuilding every page you still want to change.
We covered the wider question of app-hosted pages in are page builders dead? - the short version is that AI made native code cheap to produce, which weakens the case for renting your pages.
The AI workflow you pick decides whether year-two you owns a theme or a subscription.
Publishing model and speed
Fudge publishes through Shopify. Work happens in a draft theme; publishing promotes it the way any theme change goes live. Pages load as theme sections with no app rendering layer, so there is no extra weight and no dependency at request time.
Replo publishes through Replo. Pages go live from the Replo workspace and are served through Replo’s delivery system. Credit where due: Replo has invested here, claiming pre-rendered pages and 90+ PageSpeed scores out of the box.3
The fair reading in 2026 is that raw speed is closer than the old “app pages are slow” framing suggests. The difference that persists is architectural: Fudge pages have no external dependency at all, while Replo pages route through a third-party system that has to stay fast, solvent, and installed.
What do Fudge and Replo cost over 12 months?
Prices as of September 2026, from Replo’s App Store listing.2 Fudge has a free plan; paid plans with build credits start at $79/month.
| Scenario | Year-one cost |
|---|---|
| Fudge, free plan | $0 |
| Fudge, entry paid plan | $948 |
| Replo Starter, monthly | $1,428 |
| Replo Starter, annual | $1,188 |
| Replo Pro, monthly | $7,188 |
| Replo Pro, annual | $5,988 |
The caps matter as much as the sticker price. Replo Starter is limited to 15 published items; the listing prices extra published items at $100/month beyond that, and extra stores at $99/month. A brand running Starter that outgrows its cap can pay Pro-adjacent money without being on Pro.
Fudge prices by build credits rather than published pages, so a finished page does not keep costing you: once the code is in your theme, it is just your theme.
One more line for the spreadsheet: the exit cost. A year of Replo pages is a year of pages to rebuild if you leave. A year of Fudge pages is a year of theme code that needs nothing further.
For how these two compare against the rest of the category on price, see our best Shopify page builders ranking.
Can you migrate between them?
Replo to Fudge is a rebuild, not an export, because Replo pages are not theme code. The workable order: rebuild your highest-traffic pages in a Fudge draft theme first, keep URLs identical or set 301 redirects, verify cart and mobile, then uninstall. Do the rebuild before removing the app, since Replo pages freeze at that point. Our Replo to Fudge migration guide walks through every step.
Fudge to Replo is lower stakes, and we say that as the losing party in the scenario. Your Fudge pages are theme code, so they keep working and stay editable while you rebuild in Replo at whatever pace you like. Replo’s URL and screenshot import can even reproduce them.
That asymmetry is worth noticing before you commit either way: one direction has a deadline, the other does not.
Choose Replo if, choose Fudge if
Choose Replo if:
- You design in Figma and want frames turned into pages as a routine workflow.
- You want to replicate pages from URLs or screenshots regularly, such as rebuilding winning ad pages.
- Built-in A/B testing and analytics are things you will use weekly, not features you like the idea of.
- You are an agency or design-led team that bills for pages and can spread Pro’s cost across clients.
- Hands-on canvas control matters more to you than owning the output.
Choose Fudge if:
- You want AI that already knows your store instead of starting from a template or an import.
- You want the result as native theme code you keep, with nothing to rebuild if you cancel.
- You need to edit existing pages, not just create new ones - PDPs, homepages, and sections included.
- You are a solo merchant or small team and $79/month fits where $119 to $599 does not.
- Page speed with zero app dependency is a requirement, not a preference.
If neither fits cleanly, the wider field is covered in our Replo alternatives comparison.
FAQ
No. Replo AI is the AI layer of the main Replo product. Replo has rebuilt its interface around chat, so page generation, edits, and integrations all run through the same AI assistant alongside the visual editor.
No. Replo AI builds pages inside Replo's component system, and those pages are served through Replo's infrastructure rather than living in your theme. Fudge takes the opposite approach and writes native Liquid, CSS, and JavaScript into a draft of your own theme.
A text prompt, a URL, a screenshot or pasted image, a Figma frame, or an ad creative. This input range is Replo AI's strongest feature, and it is wider than what Fudge accepts. Fudge instead designs from your existing theme plus Lookbooks, its curated design inspiration.
Fudge has an inline editor for quick direct changes, but not a pixel-by-pixel design canvas. Structural work happens by prompting, with every change previewed in a draft theme before publishing. Teams that want full manual placement control will prefer Replo's canvas.
Fudge. Its entry paid plan is $948 over 12 months, and there is a free plan. Replo Starter is $1,428 billed monthly or $1,188 billed annually, with a 15-published-item cap, and Replo Pro is $5,988 to $7,188 per year, as of September 2026.
Fudge pages are native theme code, so they stay live and fully editable after uninstall. Replo's support docs state that existing pages remain available after removing the app, but changes can no longer be published to them, so they are frozen in their last state.
Yes, by rebuilding them as theme code rather than exporting, since Replo pages are not Liquid. Rebuild high-traffic pages in a Fudge draft theme, keep URLs identical or add 301 redirects, and only uninstall Replo once the new pages are verified.
