Key takeaways

  • Create a basic FAQ page from Online Store > Pages > Add page.
  • For an accordion layout with SEO schema, use an FAQ section in the Theme Editor.
  • FAQ sections with schema markup can generate FAQ rich results in Google - extra SERP real estate.
  • Group questions by topic and write answers that directly address the question.

A FAQ page does two jobs: it answers customer questions before they contact support, and it can earn FAQ rich results in Google that expand your search listing with question-and-answer pairs. The second method below handles both.

Why you can trust us

We’ve helped hundreds of Shopify brands build content that ranks and converts. We also built Fudge — an AI storefront editor with a 5.0 rating on the Shopify App Store.

Method 1 - Create a basic FAQ page

Step 1. Go to Online Store > Pages.

Step 2. Click Add page.

Step 3. Set the title to “FAQ” or “Frequently Asked Questions”.

Step 4. Use the description editor to write your Q&A content. A clean format:

Use bold text for each question, followed by the answer in a normal paragraph. Separate each Q&A pair with a line break.

Step 5. Set the URL handle in the SEO section to faq for a clean /pages/faq URL.

Step 6. Save and add the page to your navigation.

When to use this: Good enough for stores with fewer than 10 questions and no SEO goals for the page.

Limitation: No accordion behaviour, no structured data for Google rich results.

Many modern Shopify themes include a built-in FAQ or accordion section. This method gives you:

Step 1. Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize.

Step 2. Using the page selector at the top, navigate to your FAQ page (or create the page first using Method 1).

Step 3. In the left sidebar, click Add section.

Step 4. Look for a section labelled FAQ, Accordion, or Collapsible rows. Select it.

Step 5. Add individual question-and-answer items inside the section. In the block settings, there’s usually a field for the question text and the answer text.

Step 6. Enable FAQ schema in the section settings if available (look for “Show FAQ schema” or a structured data toggle).

Step 7. Save.

Does Shopify FAQ schema generate Google rich results?

Yes - when implemented correctly. Shopify themes that include FAQ sections typically output FAQPage schema markup. When Google indexes the page and validates the schema, your search listing may expand to show individual Q&A pairs directly in the results.

This gives you more SERP real estate and can improve click-through rates from search.

Requirements:

You can verify the schema using Google’s Rich Results Test tool.

How to create a FAQ page structure that works

Group questions by topic. If you have more than 8 questions, organise them under sub-headings: “Orders”, “Shipping”, “Returns”, “Products”.

Lead with the most common questions. Put the questions you get most often via email or chat at the top.

Keep answers direct. One to three sentences per answer. If the answer is longer, link to a dedicated page.

Use actual customer language. Write the question the way a customer would type it, not the way your team talks internally.

Update it regularly. When a new question comes in via support, add it to the FAQ.

What to include on a Shopify FAQ page
